Step into Winston Churchill’s London and follow in the footsteps of one of Britain’s most famous politicians and leaders on our Winston Churchill tour of London. Churchill is perhaps the most iconic British personality of all time, and on this tour, you’ll learn about his personal life and how his career propelled him to Number 10 Downing Street.
This private 2-hour walking tour starts in Westminster, where you’ll head straight over to the Palace of Westminster to hear about Winston Churchill’s life as an MP, where he led the war effort and his struggles during the nation’s darkest hour. You will have an opportunity to have your photo taken with his statue in Parliament Square and see the church where Churchill married his darling Clemmie in 1908.
As part of the Winston Churchill tour of London, you’ll pass the spot where he made his victory speech to the national and the club where he regularly dined with Lady Violet Bonham Carter – who incidentally was the actress Helena Bonham Carter’s granny!
Winston Churchill was a keen painter; thus, the tour includes a brief visit (subject to availability) to see his portrait in the National Portrait Gallery.
Of course, no Winston Churchill walks around Westminster would be complete without a stop by the entrance to Downing Street, where you can see if you can spot the police officer standing outside number 10.
The tour finishes outside Churchill’s War Rooms, where Winston Churchill spent his war years. Here you can independently visit the subterranean location where Churchill awaited and planned for a threatened 1940 invasion by the mighty German army.
Please note that this tour is private, so when you book, you will have your own guide and not share the tour with anyone else
